UPDATED ? If the deal between Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and Catholic Health Initiatives goes through as planned it would increase Saint Alphonsus? workforce by a third ? to around 4,400 ? and boost the number of beds in the system to more than 700, up from 386. The Michigan-based parent company of Saint Alphonsus has signed a letter of intent with Catholic Health Initiatives to purchase Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, along with Holy Rosary Medical Center and Saint Elizabeth Health Services, both in eastern Oregon. ?We?ve always had a regional approach to providing quality care to those communities,? Sally Jeffcoat, CEO of Saint Alphonsus said in an interview, ?and this really creates a regional health care system rather than individual hospitals trying to collaborate.?
